Utopian Headboard

The Utopian Headboard in Midtown 422 Renovation Project.

"This ain't your mama's design show!" - Utopia Joe

Now I lay me down to sleep, a headboard for all my tools to keep.  While Joe was creating a film set in our bedroom, the staged "shop" evolved to become a symbolic shrine for the show.  http://www.utopiajoe.com/

Let's take a look at the Before Picture to see how far we have come. The eclectic bedroom renovation with mechanical stylings, furniture and art is all made possible for less than $500.
The After Picture is vibrant with color and objects that might even be considered defiant in their placement.  As Joe always said, "This ain't your Mama's Design Show!"  This headboard is more Vision Board with a non-traditional nod to a dream come true for The Utopia Joe Show
The handyman's accoutrement...

How about some bull horns, paint brushes, putty knives and handsaws on your headboard?
Or a ladder for your nightstand?

Joe had me pair up one of my traditional collages with a non-traditional collage of found objects in a painting pan.  I don't know about you, but I have never used a paint tray for a canvas before.  The found objects come mostly from the garage of Bruce Buckner's bucket of junk along with some asian papers from the local Super CAO NGUYEN market near Midtown located in the heart of OKC's Asian District on 2668 N. Military Avenue.  They have the most beautiful and budget friendly finds there.  It is definitely worth the trip.

The eclectic surprises flow throughout the room with Utopia Joe Custom Electric Guitar, painted canvas curtains, distressed dresser and vintage album covers hung with chains for make-shift artwork.

What's at the end of your curtain rod?  These albums were found at The Rink Gallery in downtown Oklahoma City.  For only a few dollars, you can have stunning artwork in any style with thousands of albums to choose from.  The metro's largest antique and retro, vintage mall.  The Gallery hosts over 100 dealers and is opened seven days a week. With an 8 p.m. closing time on Thursday - Saturdays,
it's convenient to stop and shop after the work day.
Every Sunday they offer free refreshments and live music at 2 p.m.http://www.rinkgallery.com/
Located at 3200 N. Rockwell Ave., Bethany, OK.  405.787.RINK

This view highlights a budget conscious abstract painting on canvas which also serves as a closet cover.  The floor is revamped with a tiger print carpet remnant from The Carpet Depot.  Utopia Joe Custom Guitar, dresser and light table for drafting finish out this side of the bedroom.
